Popliteal Fossa

The popliteal fossa is the "kneepit" located in back of the knee where the femur and tibia bones meet.
Components of the Popliteal Fossa:
tibia nerve
popliteal artery
popliteal vein
end of the small saphenous vein
common peroneal nerve
lymph nodes
This is also the location of a very important acupuncture point called Bladder-40. It is considered to be the "command point" of the back and is important to consider for patients with back pain.
